Primrose of Kokomo Hires new Director of Nursing

KOKOMO, IN – Primrose Retirement Community of Kokomo has hired Heather Holliday to be the new Director of Nursing for the independent and assisted living community. In this role, Holliday will guide and oversee the overall care of residents and, in conjunction with Executive Director Theresa Huffman, manage the nursing staff.  She will also ensure compliance with all necessary regulations.

Holliday, a graduate of Ivy Tech School of Nursing in Kokomo, is excited to join the Primrose staff.  “I came to Primrose for the opportunity to grow in my nursing experience and to work for a company that appreciates the team approach to taking care of its residents,” Holliday said.  “All aspects of this job excite me, and I look forward to doing my best for the residents and their families,” she added.

“We are very excited that Heather has joined our management team.” said Primrose Executive Director Theresa Huffman.  “She has some wonderful experience, and more importantly, she will bring a great deal of passion and energy for our residents. I have no doubt that she will help take Primrose to the next level.”

Primrose of Anderson Hires Executive Director for New Memory Care

ANDERSON, IN. – Primrose Retirement Community of Anderson has hired Carey Richardson to be Executive Director of memory care services.  She began her duties on March 21st.  In this capacity, Richardson will oversee the day-to-day operations of the new memory care community.

Richardson is a Licensed Practical Nurse and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work along with minors in sociology and family science.  She was a social worker with underprivileged families before going to nursing school – and she worked in long-term care before coming to Primrose.

“I wanted to work for a company who wanted to do the right thing all of the time,” Richardson said.  “I wanted to work for people who truly cared for both residents and employees and I knew Primrose fit the bill as soon as I walked through the door,” she added.

“We’re very excited to have Carey in her new role,” said Primrose Regional Operations Manager Hervey Lawrence.  “Her enthusiasm and drive will help Primrose continue in our mission of providing an amazing experience for our incredible residents.  We’re confident that she and her team will do great things for Primrose of Anderson.”

The Primrose of Anderson Community, located at 1118 W. Cross St., consists of 8 townhome villas, 36 independent living apartment homes, and 32 assisted-living apartment homes.  There are also 24 memory care units under construction that are expected to be open in the Fall of 2016.

Shelby Campbell Chosen to be Scholarship Recipient

Teresa Appleton Named Employee of the Year

Appleton serves as the Director of Housekeeping at Primrose Retirement Community of Casper.  “Teresa is quite literally the embodiment of the Primrose mission,” said Eileen Ford, Casper Executive Director.  “She has been the Director of Housekeeping since this community opened its doors and she still comes to work each day with the goal of brightening the lives of our residents and staff,” she added.

Karen Barchent Named Employee of the Year

Barchent serves as the Executive Director Assistant at Primrose Retirement Community of Findlay.  “Where Karen is, people feel joy and love,” says Heather Peterson, Findlay Executive Director.  “She always comes up with creative ways to go above and beyond to make residents and staff feel like kings and queens,” she added.

Melissa Nelson Named Executive Director of the Year

Nelson has served as the Executive Director of Primrose of Sioux Falls since 2007.  In the role of Executive Director, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the entire community and acts as a resource and leader for the Sioux Falls Primrose team.
